1978 Kawasaki Z1R KZ1000 Super Bike for Sale

1978 KAWASAKI Z1RThe late 1970s saw a battle for horsepower among the the top four Japanese motorcycle manufacturers and Kawasaki was determined to be at the top of the heap. The original Z1 (900) was launched in 1972 and had 20 more horsepower than the Honda CB750, which was really the first " super bike" out of Japan. By the time the Z1R (1000) was released in 1978 the Kawasaki produced 90hp and could top 130 mph. The squarish bodywork combined with the legendary " coffin" tank gave the Z1R a unique look that has aged well over time. Known for its ferocious acceleration and modern styling, the Z1R has become an icon of 1970s fast motorcycling. The bike runs and rides well and appears to have been well maintained. It starts on the button and does not smoke or leak. The tires have excellent tread but are old and should be replaced before riding much. Recently, it has been ridden on relatively short jaunts and it runs great. Some minor sorting may be needed as it is ridden more. The paint is a combination of original and respray, although most of the pinstriping is original. The clear coat has deteriorated on much of the silver blue except on the tank where the paint is still nice and shiny but has a few scratches. The wiring on the bike is original and in very good shape. An electronic ignition has been installed. The handlebar switches and gauges are all in very nice shape. 1939 Velocette KSS Special for Sale

The marriage of a KSS motor with the more current MAC rolling chassis was a fairly common practice that resulted in a far better platform for the OHC KSS motor. Classic Motorcycle and Mechanics tested one in July '92 and came away impressed with the combo. This example was built by a Velo expert during '91 and '92 and acquired by the current owner in 2004. Was rode it occasionally over the next few years and decomissioned it for display in his climate controlled collection in 2008. The machine is a fine example with no mechanical issues. 1947 EL Knucklehead Motorcycle This is an EL model but was built to the 74" FL specs The entire motorcycle was just recently rebuilt from top to bottom. The entire engine was rebuilt but had the old finish left on the outside of everything to match the older look of the bike. The motor was built with a little extra compression, aftermarket cam, and some other performance bits to help it rev up quicker and run faster. Everything was reconditioned OEM or high quality aftermarket, or custom made for the bike. The bike is very light in weight as it has minimal parts on it. Only what is necessary for it to function properly.
