1973 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL 4.5 V8 W108 Sedan for Sale

Edison, NJ
Jan 01, 2024
This Beauty was born in August of 1972, and it was titled as a 1973 Model, making it one of the last W108 V8 models rolling of the production line! What makes this beauty special is that it is All Original car – Original Paint, Original Interior, and Original Drive Train! Mercedes made only 8,173 280SEL 4.5 V8’s in period from May of 1971 until November of 1972, and this beauty is one of them! Also, 4.5 V8 was only offered to the North American Market, making it particularly desirable in Europe! Add the highly desirable automatic floor shifter to the mix, and you have a something that lots of collectors and Mercedes-Benz Enthusiasts are looking for!Its Original Dark Red (#542G Dunkelrot) paint has a very nice presence, and it makes this German Luxury Sedan look very elegant and timeless! It still has a beautiful shine and luster, and just upon closer inspection you can notice some imperfections and blemishes in the paint (some paint cracking on top of the hood and front fenders – mainly because of engine heat and the fact that paint is original and over 47 years old!). We could have painted the front end, but that would take away from its originality, patina and its overall beauty and the fact that Cars are original only once!Chrome is very nice and complete, with nice and healthy luster and this beautiful sedan is a head turner and conversation piece everywhere it goes. This Mercedes is very solid, and its undercarriage is all original and unmolested! Body is also straight, and all doors, hood, and trunk are operating with ease, with everything lining up as it should. There is not a lot of 280SEL 4.5 V8’s out there in this solid, original and preserved condition! As Mercedes made only a little bit over 8,100 of 4.5 V8 SEL’s, there is not a lot of them left period! Add a rare floor gearshift option, and number of survivors is even smaller! Its original and elegant Black MB-Tex interior shows beautifully! Seats look great and are still comfortable and very supportive. Carpets and headliner are in great shape as well! Also importantly there are no cracks on the dash, and top of the door panels – trait of cars that spent majority of life on the hot sun with no protection! Only thing not original on the inside is updated CD-Player, with Satellite Radio option, which is actually not a bad thing as you can listen to plethora of your favorite tunes, while cruising down the road in this beauty! -Engine Transmission4.5 Liter V8 Engine is strong and powerful as ever! Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through every gear and this German Yacht handles great, and it is very comfortable. Matching Tires are like brand new, with lots of thread and life left in them! Air Condition works as it should, and this Classic is ready for some fun cruises! There is nothing better than driving down the road in your Classic Mercedes-Benz! This beauty comes complete with its original maintenance books and manuals, original tool set, as well as the Original Temporary registration from the first owner who purchased it back on March 6th of 1973!Bottom line is that this is a very nicely kept, unmolested, original and complete Mercedes SEL, that has a lot of potential, making it a wonderful investment! 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible for Sale

Jersey City, NJ
Jan 01, 2024
For sale is my Pristine 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible. This 450SL is immaculate and has a Olive Green exterior with Tan MB-Tex interior. The seats are original condition and look like great. This Mercedes just turned 17k miles and it runs and drives fantastically. This is a really nice low mile car and no doubt the cleanest R107 SL. This vehicle is all original and has never been in any accidents or to the best of my knowledge, had any paint work done. This car is 100% original. This vehicle needs nothing but a new caring owner and a new home. The previous owner never smoked in this car and it was always meticulously maintained and stored in a heated garage in CT. The car was always stored in a climate controlled environment and you can tell this because you will not find a spec of rust, even surface rust, on this vehicle. It looks like it rolled off the showroom floor yesterday. Everything underneath looks like new. The previous owner told me the car had only been washed a few times. He would take the vehicle out for a short drive, and put it back into the garage, dust it off, and under a car cover it went. The convertible top was always down on the car, he never had the top up at all. He never drove the car in cold or wet weather, so he never used it. When these pictures were taken, this was the first time since 1976, that the hardtop had been installed on the vehicle. The hardtop sat in the attic for 40 years under a tarp. Upon inspecting the vehicle, I learned that even the radio and the power antenna are original to the vehicle. I know this because I have all the original warranty cars for the items and the VIN number and item number all match! I also learned that all the rubber seals and weather stripping are also original and have date codes on them. The convertible top is also original and can be verified by its proper " wopavin" markings on the rear glass. In the trunk, you will find the original Pirelli spare tire with the label still affixed to it, its never been mounted. You will also find the original Jack with the tag still on it and the complete tool kit. All the glass on the vehicle is original and has the Mercedes logos on every piece. When we removed the wheels to check the brakes, we learned that the vehicle still had the original factory brake pads! All the proper stickers and tags are present on this vehicle. Even the valve stem caps on the alloy wheels are original. Its just unbelievable! If you look closely, you will see that the car still has its original German Bosch stainless steel wiper arms! These were always thrown away after the first wiper change and cant be ordered anymore. This Mercedes 450SL is loaded up with practically every possible option that could have been ordered. It has MB Tex seats, both hard and soft top, optional light weight alloy wheels, glove box flashlight, power windows, power locks, dual remote mirrors, power antenna with original AM/FM Becker radio, cruise control, intermittent wipers, ICE COLD AC, full set of factory gauges, and so much more. This vehicle was very well cared for and it shows. The maintenance is all current and the vehicle is reliable and runs like a dream. The car has matching Michelin tires on it that are in great condition and do not leak at all. We just installed a new battery less than 100 miles ago and we went through this vehicle from the top to bottom to make sure every single feature in the vehicle works the way it should, and I guarantee that. Even the air conditioner works and has the original R12 system seals! We have driven this vehicle around town and it seems to be running and driving 100%. You can literally jump in this vehicle and drive it back home without any problems. The motor and transmission fluids are all very clean and the vehicle has good brakes, good rotors, and good windshield wiper blades. The vehicle is ready to go now without any issues. The exterior of the vehicle is super clean. The body panels are all perfect and the paintwork is all original and in perfect shape. The paint is glossy and the vehicle looks like its only a couple of years old. You can see your reflection in the paint of this vehicle. The exterior is in show room condition and super mint. The soft top is original and there is absolutely no wear on the top at all and all the top handles work perfectly. There is no flaws to point out on the exterior at all. Its just a great vehicle. The interior of the vehicle is like brand new. The seats are in great condition and the MB Tex is supple and clean. The dash and door panels are also in perfect condition and clean with no blemishes at all. All the trimmings and other interior trims are in perfect condition with no cracks or delamination. The interior is in fantastic condition in my opinion. Used 1975 Mercedes-Benz SL 17,421 miles For sale is my Pristine 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible. 1959 Mercedes-Benz Ponton 220S Coupe Leather Seats for Sale

Jersey City, NJ

The sedans were produced in large numbers, but the coupe, sunroof coupes, and convertibles were much more expensive and sold in very limited numbers. They were more luxurious and had tremendous presence, thanks to their almost baroque styling and significant amounts of chrome trim. The interiors were trimmed with high quality leather and wood, while the cars were mechanically sophisticated with independent suspension and unitized construction on the later cars. This particular car is one of those rare sunroof coupe models, sold new in 1959 in New York, and equipped for the US market. The car is best described as an exceedingly straight, solid, and dry excellent “driver ” example with a wonderful body, fresh paint, and matching numbers. It is equipped with the desirable 4-speed manual transmission vs. Mercedes ’ Hydrax unit which was plagued with mechanical problems. In part due to the fresh paint, the car makes a strong presentation. The dark color highlights the car ’s excellent body with wonderful panel match throughout. The chrome is generally very good, and for the most part looks to be original, with just minor weathering and ageing. The window glass and lenses are all in good order, as are the emblems. The car sits on factory steel wheels with nice hubcaps. The interior has beautiful wood trim which has clearly been redone in the recent past. The headliner is very good, as is the leather seat and door panel upholstery, which appears to have also been redone at some point. The carpets are average, showing minor wear and discoloration. The engine bay and underside, while not overly detailed, are very complete with the battery hold down and VDO windshield washer bottle, and are in keeping with a good driver presentation. The car runs and drives well with ample power and a smooth operating transmission and driveline. The brakes work well, the suspension is soft and compliant, and steering is accurate. Included with the sale is a full book package including the supplement, service book, owner ’s manual, and parts catalog, as well as the tool roll with tools, and the spare wheel with tire.
