1962 MG MGA For Sale

Alabaster, AL
Oct 26, 2023
For your consideration in this listing is a partially restored 1962 MGA. I've been working on this on and off for the last 4 years. I'll describe below. I opted to use a five main 1800 MGB engine so some modifications are done (Emission control/electrical/drive shaft/ transmission mount/etc. )-Every nut and bolt removed from body and frame. Frame checked for straightness, blasted, powder coated. All body panels and misc. parts stripped/blasted and rust treated. -Body panels sealed with two part epoxy, ready for thin bondo coat. All misc. parts/brackets blasted and sealed with same. -Three piece rocker assemblies mig welded. Body epoxy coated inside and out. Body painted six coats. Engine bay and trunk ready for assembly. -Complete front and rear suspensions rebuilt with new parts/bearings/bushings. Four Armstrong shocks rebuilt by Apple Hydraulics-No front/rear bumpers, but the bumper brackets are present. -New brake cylinders/calipers/rotors/shoes. New master brake/clutch cylinder. NOS. New slave cylinder. -New copper/nickel brake lines throughout. Copper/nickel used for fuel and vent lines. Recharged charcoal canister. -Wire wheels blasted, epoxy coated and painted. Five new tires mounted and balanced by Les Schwab. -New fuel tank/sender/cap and neck. -New radiator/ cap and mounting gaskets. -All gauges/switches/cables present and cleaned. Electric MGB tach guts fitted to MGA housing. -Top frame stripped/primed. Side curtains in original condition. -New British Wiring wiring harness modified by them for MGB engine. -Heater box restored/painted with fan and tested heater core. New heater ducts. -Original windshield in good shape. Wiper assemblies cleaned up. Headlight and tail light assemblies restored. -New stainless steel Tourist Trophy exhaust system. -New custom heavy drive shaft. -Anti-sway bay ready to install (after full weight of car is on the wheels). -New floors from 7 ply birch primed/painted installed with stainless fasteners. Floors not caulked in place: just weatherstripping for easy removal. -Two sets of seats. One reupholstered with new foam seat bottoms. The other is fully restored frames and bottoms ready for upholstery. -MGB 1800 five main engine fully rebuilt by Brian Schultzler at Bearing Service in Portland, Oregon. Invoice available. All parts are new. -Carbs rebuilt by Joe Curto in New York. World famous. -Rebuilt starter motor by Bill Jungck at PMX Alternators in Portland. Bill also supplied correct rebuilt alternator. -Distributor supplied by Jeff Schlemmer in Minneapolis tuned and curved for this MGB engine. New sparkplugs and wire set. As you might see, an enormous amount of work has already been done on this car. I'm good mechanically but not so great a body and paint (although the engine bay and trunk look quite good), so this car need to go to someone more capable. I have lots of photos of the restoration that I can email. The body presently is just sitting on the frame and can be easily lifted off to prove the straightness of the frame if someone wants to. You can do the approximate arithmetic to know about how much money I have put into this car. I'm sure I've forgotten some new things that will go with the car. I'll look at any reasonable offer and am not planning on getting paid for the hundreds of hours spent working on this car. This will be an excellent car project with most of the heavy lifting already done. I have a clear Oregon title in my name. Go to Portland Craigslist to see more photos. This is a fun truck to have. It runs great, has been thoroughly taken care of over the last 5 years. It can be a great driver as is or restoration. The soft top is on and hasnt come off since putting on. The fiberglass(dual wall) top is in perfect condition except rubber seals. The locking hubs work. AC and heat do not. All electrical was updated after purchase. Original 3 speed transmission was rebuilt 5 years ago. Odometer isnt accurate. The engine isnt original. I have put less than 700 miles on it since purchasing it. I also have a Hickey roll bar still in box and needs assembly along with side steps and seals for top included.
