Pontiacâs Trans Am package for the 1973 Firebird gave it a dedicated 455-cubic-inch engine, standard four-speed manual transmission and a high-grip suspension.
The team at PMD then added aero-enhancing spoilers and an exclusive hood graphic to produce a pony car worthy of the Trans Am name. The engine is bored 0.030 over and features a Ram
Air IV camshaft and Rhoads valve lifters. The distributor has been upgraded to electronic ignition as well. The original Muncie four-speed transmission was replaced with a Doug Nash five-speed manual, which has a very low first gear. The rear end features a 4.11:1 final-drive ratio.
