1971 Harley Davidson Superglide also known as the Night Train.

This is one of the first year collectible Harley Davidson Boat Tail Superglides. I purchased this bike as it basically is from it's second owner. The second owner purchased the bike from the original owner around 1976. The second owner stored and maintained the bike to a high standard

as he did with all of the motorcycles that were in his collection. He made some modifications to the bike over the years to have the bike more user friendly. He added a slightly larger front end for better handling and a disc front brake to increase the stopping power as opposed to the original factory front drum brake.

The second owner also had the bike repainted in Harley Davidson's Racing colors of Black and Orange. The paint scheme mimics the way these early boat tail Superglides left Harley Davidson with only the color change from the factory red, white and blue. The paint work was done years ago and still presents well. The original tin pieces, 3 1/5 gallon total fuel tanks and

front fender, are in very nice condition as well as the fiberglass rear fender and boat tail. All of the bright work is in nice condition. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago.

I had both the tires replaced earlier this year. Dunlop D401 and D402 Harley Davidson tires were installed. The battery is less than a year old and the speedometer has been replaced. The actual mileage on the bike is unknown.

1948 Harley Davidson EL Panhead This motorcycle was purchased by my father in 1950 before entering the Army for the Korean war. He rode it to his basic training outside of Washington DC. After the war he rode it back to Indiana where he crashed during his journey home. He left the broken parts in the ditch and drove it home. It was his main source of transportation until he ran it low on oil and seized the engine. At that point he removed the engine and started the rebuilding process and lost interest. He coated all of the parts in cosmoline and placed them in a barrel. The bike was kept in one of the sheds on the farm until it was placed in the barn loft where it stayed for many years until October of 2017. To start the project of putting it back together we gathered all of the parts we could find and started the journey to get it back on the road. The pipes, kick pedal, interior primary case, one gas cap and one grip were missing. The tires, spokes, clutch, primary chain, drive chain and the wiring had to be replaced. The generator, engine and transmission were rebuilt. The EL runs great and we took great care to not alter the look that we saw when it came out of the barn loft. The front fender light is not correct. I have the original base but no light. The case numbers match each other.
